Book Reviews

BooksI have been given an incredible opportunity here.

I will be blogging reviews of cherry-picked technology-related books from Apress and I’ll also be able to offer you, my visitors, promotion codes for incredible savings on these titles. At least that’s how the song goes.

In addition to posting reviews of these books, I’ll leave comments open for each review and you’ll be able to ask questions, post your own mini-reviews, etc. If you’d like.

This will all be coming in the near future. I’m really excited about being able to help the community that I am a part of.

Regarding eBooks:

This is something I never thought I would say. I like digital books. Just a year or two ago I stated that I would never like them. I found that to not be the case at all. My introduction to the world of eBooks has come in the form of an iPad. A device that I wasn’t sure I’d like until I actually purchased one. Now, I still don’t think that I would be a proper candidate for a Kindle or Nook device. The iPad brings a lot of functionality with it, in addition to having a ton of books on it at the ready at any time.

At any moment I can check my email, surf the net (still don’t miss Flash at all on the iPad mind you), or jump into a book. Or buy one. Technology is pretty wonderful.

I will still prefer the real thing to an electronic format when possible… especially when it comes to near and dear works, such as those by J.R.R. Tolkien. But if you’re on the move you can’t beat the portability of some bits in memory.
