The 80’s. Sugared sodas. Now replaced high fructose corn syrup and all sorts of other nasty. Pepsi is bringing sexy (and healthier back).
Granted, drinking sugared sodas isn’t a healthy endeavor. But if you already partake during your coding stints (and don’t resort to energy drinks outright), I have some great news for you.
Pepsi is brining Mountain Dew and Pepsi properly back in the form of original recipe throwbacks. I was never a huge Dew-drinker, but I remember Pepsi and Dew being slightly crisp with a really nice after-taste. And they packed enough to pique my interest and keep me coding Cobol, Pascal, Gra-forth, and Assembly.
Recently my wife and I took a quick drive to Cape Cod to check out a few summer rental homes. We stopped at a Dunkin’ Donuts for some coffee and next door was a convenience store. My wife came back with a few throwbacks – mainly because the retro labels were pretty sweet. I was immediately thrown into a gastric time machine.
Pepsi has decided to keep these “limited edition” sodas around for good. I guess it was originally a temporary thing. I wonder if they will end up selling more of the throwback than their current modern offerings.
I plan on picking some up. Just for the nostalgia. Now to watch a little Magnum P.I. on Hulu or something. Woohoo!
